Lufthansa has a huge number of lounges scattered across Germany and the rest of the world, and in all honesty, this seems like one of the worst of the lot. Whilst, interestingly, Star Alliance Gold passengers are able to use the First Class ‘lounge’ check-in, the glamorous experience does not continue.
Access
- Star Alliance Gold passengers
- Miles & More HON Circle members
- Miles & More Senator members
- Lufthansa First Class passengers
- Star Alliance/ Lufthansa Codeshare Partner First Class passengers
Passengers must have a confirmed boarding pass for a Lufthansa/ Codeshare/ Star Alliance flight departing the same day.
NOTE: Business Class passengers without a Star Alliance Gold, HON Circle or Senator card are ineligible to use this lounge, and may instead use the dedicated Business Lounge.
The Pros
Two separate lounges are offered, the Senator Lounge (for Star Alliance Gold and First Class) and the Business Lounge (for Business Class), meaning the lounges shouldn’t be overly packed.
A well-stocked buffet is on hand, with plenty of choices for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as sweet and savoury foods.
Complimentary wi-fi is available, separate to the main airport, however it is unlocked, and so is relatively slow.
No shortage of lounge seating, with plenty of armchairs available, as well as dining chairs and tables near the buffet.
Complimentary newspapers are on offer.
The Cons
The lounge looks pretty dull and faded. The chairs are old, the carpet is fading and the lighting is gloomy. This is all probably due to the age and lack of renovation.
Few ‘zones’ for different moods. It is basically one large lounging area, making it less intimate and functional.
The view outside the windows is of the road to the airport, and so is pretty unimpressive when compared to tarmac views.
The Judgement
As a relatively old lounge in a relatively small airport, it’s understandable why the place looks drab and faded. It has all that you’d want from a basic lounge, but simply doesn’t present it in a soothing atmosphere. Plenty of room for improvement through a simple renovation by Lufthansa.
